Working across Thanet, Canterbury, Folkestone, Hythe, Shepway and Dover, SEK are delivering the exciting 'Let's Get Working' project.

'Let's Get Working' is a social prescribing project where we provide intensive , personally tailored and ongoing practical support for disadvantaged people over the age of 16, who are not in work or training due to a disability or long-term physical health condition.

Participants are assigned a dedicated Community Connector who will work closely with them to help them take their next steps towards employment, volunteering, work placements or getting involved in their local community.

Since the project started in 2017, SEK has achieved the following with participants:

Part of the National Lottery Funded 'Fulfilling Lives: Ageing Better' programme, Social Enterprise Kent leads the £3million Ageless Thanet programme.

Working with 50+ residents, Ageless Thanet is tackling social isolation and loneliness, improving mental and physical health in older people and influencing, both locally and nationally, perceptions of ageing and informing policy on ageing.

Ageless Thanet is working towards achieving the following outcomes.

People aged 50 and over are:

  • less isolated and lonely
  • actively involved in their communities, with their views and participation valued more highly
  • more engaged in the design and delivery of services that improve their social connections.

The programme also aims to support:

  • services that improve social connections to be better planned, co-ordinated and delivered
  • the development of better evidence about how to reduce isolation and loneliness for people aged over 50, in order to improve the design of services in the future.
